2004 Crown Vic Cop Car Guts: 1948 Ford F-6 COE

2004 Crown Vic Cop Car Guts: 1948 Ford F-6 COE

This 1948 Ford F-6 COE is one of a growing number of old Dearborn trucks that have been stuffed with the guts of a retired Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. The truck is said to be all steel, all Ford, and wearing all original paint, while the chassis and running gear (consisting of a 4.6 liter modular V8 with a 4-speed automatic) from a 2004 Crown Vic cop car should massively improve handling, braking, power, and refinement. Recently Hot Rod Garage built a similar truck, documented in videos here and here. Find this one here on eBay in Audubon, Minnesota with reserve not met. Referred to as a 1948 Ford …Read entire story

Aluminum Intensive Ex-Mil Testbed: Chenowth MTADS Buggy

Aluminum Intensive Ex-Mil Testbed: Chenowth MTADS Buggy

This Chenowth rail buggy is one of three known units built by the SoCal-based company, reportedly in collaboration with a defense department engineering contractor to serve as military testbed vehicles. Designed to tow electromagnetic sensor arrays, as such they were constructed from aluminum in order to minimize noise and interference. Power comes from a single-port 1600 VW pancake driving the rear wheels, doors are gullwings, and someone’s added lighting in order to make it street legal. Find it here on eBay in Spring Hill, Tennessee with reserve not met. The tube chassis is on full display from almost any angle, and the drivetrain along with suspension are all mounted external to the cabin. Aluminum body panels…Read entire story

318 V8 Swap: 1962 AMC Rambler Convertible

318 V8 Swap: 1962 AMC Rambler Convertible

This 1962 AMC Rambler American convertible is described as a very well built California black plate car that features a 318ci V8 and 3-speed automatic transmission.  The blue and white two-tone interior is cool looking and it is refreshing to see a clean one. Find it here on eBay in Beverly Hills, California with a $9,950 BIN. An evolution of the American introduced in 1958, by 1961 AMC was seeking something new but being cash strapped they got inventive. Narrower and shorter than the old model, the new design had more cargo capacity and incredibly used the same engine, driveline and suspension which all rode…Read entire story

273/4-Speed Notch: 1967 Plymouth Barracuda

273/4-Speed Notch: 1967 Plymouth Barracuda

This 1967 Plymouth Barracuda (chassis BH23E72217265) is described as a rust-free factory 4-speed car with the original solid lifter 273ci V8 still underhood. Repainted and fitted with a new factory-style interior, the seller says it runs and drives great, and relatively low-spec cars like this are getting pretty rare in good shape. Find it here on eBay in Portland, Oregon with no reserve. Introduced in 1967, second-generation Barracudas looked vastly different than their Valiant cousins even in notchback form. Sharing almost no sheet metal beyond their bumpers (identical down to indents and brackets), a still-available fastback and new convertible further separated the two. While big-blocks would be available (and even …Read entire story

Ex-Brush Fire Rig: 1968 Kaiser Jeep M715

Ex-Brush Fire Rig: 1968 Kaiser Jeep M715

This 1968 Kaiser M715 is appears to be an ex-brush fire truck, and despite plenty of what some might call “character,” the truck is said to start easily, run well, drive, and stop with working lights. Further described as “not rusted out,” the seller helpfully provides a handful of shots showing the chassis, floors, suspension, and drivetrain components from beneath. Find it here on Craigslist in Mendocino County, California for $5,500. Fluorescent yellows and greens are typical airport and brush rig color schemes, and though rather under-tired looking at present, the truck appears to be in perfectly serviceable condition under all its various battle scars. The utility bed with built-in …Read entire story

Restored RHD 2×4: Ex-USPS 1977 International Harvester Scout II

Restored RHD 2×4: Ex-USPS 1977 International Harvester Scout II

This 1977 International Harvester Scout II is a recently restored RHD, automatic, two-wheel drive version that’s likely to have originally served as a US Postal delivery vehicle. As the seller points out, these half-cabs are pretty rare, and though some details aren’t 100% to our liking, overall the truck looks to have been put back together nicely. Find it here on Craigslist in Los Gatos, California for $16,500. The seller doesn’t touch on the truck’s history, but RHD and the half-cab configuration are both highly suggestive of an early life spent delivering mail. Super bright yellow wouldn’t be our first color…Read entire story

Paisley Top Fuselage: 1970 Plymouth Fury Gran Coupe

Paisley Top Fuselage: 1970 Plymouth Fury Gran Coupe

This 1970 Plymouth Fury Gran Coupe remains with the original owner’s family, and though well preserved with a stock appearance inside and out, underhood it packs a mildly built 383 wearing dual quads. Factory front disc brakes and an 8 3/4″ Trac-Lok (LSD) rear end with 3.50 gears are all noteworthy as well. Find it here on eBay in Stillwater, Oklahoma for $10,700 OBO. Wearing similar styling to 1969 cars, these “fuselage” styled Mopars are huge cars with incredible presence, and this one looks much better preserved than most. Formal, conservative styling is topped by a wild paisley patterned vinyl roof, like grandma wearing a flat…Read entire story

959 Kitted & SBC Swapped: 1975 Porsche 911

959 Kitted & SBC Swapped: 1975 Porsche 911

This 1975 Porsche 911 has been fitted with an aftermarket 959 replica bodykit, not to mention a 350 Chevy conversion under the rear lid. The seller describes the car as 95% complete, adding that it will run and drive despite the cooling system needing fine-tuning. The kit won’t fool many enthusiasts, but actually looks pretty decent–at least compared to most of these types of builds, and once dialed-in could be a lot of fun. Find it here on Craigslist in Los Gatos, California for $18k. Optionally, the seller offers a full electric conversion kit for an additional $6k. Fortunately, 901 hardpoints means the greenhouse and general proportions still look right with a 959 kit in place, even if details like…Read entire story

Chased Porsches for a Living: Ex-CHP 1985 Ford Mustang SSP

This 1985 Ford Mustang SSP was reportedly restored to in-service specification, and photos show what looks like very good condition. Described as a genuine California Highway Patrol car, documentation is included, along with a period highway patrol uniform. The 5-speed trans is a plus, and other special equipment from the factory included beefed up floor pans, increased cooling capacity, a heavy duty alternator and more. Find it here on Craigslist in Clearwater, Florida for $16,500. Exterior photos don’t get too close, but paint looks to be in good condition with a deep shine visible all around. Bargain ’40 Starter Kit: 1940 Ford Woodie Wagon

Bargain ’40 Starter Kit: 1940 Ford Woodie Wagon

This 1940 Ford is one of the best looking and most iconic woodie designs, and is offered for cheaper than we typically find a ’40. It is offered in mostly complete driver condition with a GM drivetrain and an improperly mounted longboard. We’d add an economy paint job in cream or navy and sort out the rest of the details while driving it. Find it here on eBay in Oceanside, California. The front of the 1940 model has the best looking grille design of the era, and these aftermarket steel wheels and hubcaps look good enough and might be helped with some taller tire sidewalls. The wood is in serviceable but not perfect condition  the goal in purchasing one of these is to have he wood …Read entire story

Factory Turbo w/ Potential: 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder

Factory Turbo w/ Potential: 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder

This 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder convertible is an interesting factory turbocharged car that’s reported to run great with no rust and new brakes. Cosmetics are pretty rough of course, but if truly as described the car would make an excellent driving project. If fully restored, this dark over light blue color combo should definitely be retained, but we’d swap the wire wheel covers for a set of Panasports or similar. Find it here on Craigslist in Napa, California for $4,500. Special thanks to BaT reader Harris L. for this submission. There’s no word on the car’s history, but black plates suggest it’s probably been in California for many years, if not from new. Paint…Read entire story

Dual Quad 409/Powerglide & Cheater Slicks: 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air

This 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air started life as a 283/automatic equipped car, but has more recently been fitted with a ’63 409 running dual quads. Power is still transmitted through a Powerglide, but the rears are era-correct cheater slicks while fronts are correctly-sized bias-plys. The interior is said to be largely original and in very nice shape, and its colors suggest that the light blue exterior is correct. The seller says that a factory look was a high priority, and adds that the car is very streetable. Find it here on Craigslist in Sun City, Arizona for $23,500 firm. The car looks straight, complete…Read entire story

No Reserve Project: 1971 Jensen Interceptor Series II

This 1971 Jensen Interceptor SII (chassis 1255196) is offered by a resto-mod specialist shop as a project, nearly completely stripped and featuring what they call a “later,” free-turning 440. Only the motor, 727 automatic, and suspension remain in place but the car does sound to be mostly complete with a title and all removed parts in boxes, and they add that it’s very rust free. Find it here on eBay in Rancho Palos Verdes, California with no reserve. With the car displayed in primer, corrosion does appear scarce as the ad claims and sheet metal is overall straight, however there are a few …Read entire story
