McLaren 720S leaked again ahead of Geneva

McLaren 720S leaked again ahead of Geneva

The upcoming McLaren 720S has been leaked again ahead of its official reveal at this year’s Geneva motor show. A single image has surfaced online, posted (and since deleted) by Bloomberg, supposedly confirming the 720S name and giving a clearer look at the new supercar’s proportions before its full reveal at the Geneva event next week. The new Super Series blends numerous styling elements from other McLaren models, including the P1 hypercar and the Sports Series variants, with its wider and flatter aesthetic, along with its thin LED tail-lights. Like other McLaren models before it, the 720S features ‘butterfly doors’, which appear to be hinged at the roof …Read entire story

Can-Am contender – 1966 McLaren M1B

Can-Am contender – 1966 McLaren M1B

In 1965, McLaren introduced the M1B, its latest sports racer for Group 7 (and later, Can-Am) competition, which regulated the number of seats (two) and very little else about a car’s construction. The M1B was an evolution of its earlier M1A, and during Can-Am’s 1966 debut season it would deliver valuable lessons for McLaren’s later dominance of the series. The biggest drivers of the day raced in Can-Am, and next month a 1966 McLaren M1B piloted in-period by Chris Amon, Peter Revson and Skip Barber will cross the auction stage in Florida, offered for sale for the first time since 2003. Both the M1A and the M1B were built with a steel tube frame (using both round and square tubing), clad in…Read entire story

Ride Shotgun in the McLaren F1 During its Record-Breaking Run in 1998

Ride Shotgun in the McLaren F1 During its Record-Breaking Run in 1998

The McLaren F1 is the legend of legends and is still considered by some to be the best car ever made. It was engineered by a team of hand-picked masterminds with a focus on reduced drag, increased downforce, and mind shattering performance all wrapped up into one sexy package that effectively raised the bar for all supercars that came after it. Not only was it pleasing to look at, but the design itself was pure genius as it accommodates enough downforce that there was no need for a big, bulky spoiler or wing on struts in the rear. With a curb weight of around 2,500 pounds and a 6.1-liter, BMW, V-12 that had 627 horsepower and 480 pound-feet…Read entire story

McLaren F1 – the story behind its record top speed

McLaren F1 – the story behind its record top speed

McLaren is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its legendary F1 this year, and has released this video (with never before seen footage) that tells the story of the car’s record-breaking 386.4 km/h (240.14 mph) top speed. It starts in 1998, when McLaren asked Le Mans winner, Andy Wallace if he would like to drive the F1 “really fast.” Naturally, the younger and “stupider” Wallace of the day, agreed to the request and proceeded to join the team in Germany at the Ehra-Lessien test track. Of course, this wasn’t his first time in an F1, as he had previously competed in Le Mans driving the F1 GTR in 1995 and 1996. Backed by a team of McLaren engineers, as well…Read entire story

This McLaren 675LT Spider Has R6 Million Worth Of Extra’s

A regular McLaren 675LT Spider will set one back $372,000 (in the USA) but what if the entire car was made from Carbon Fibre such as the MSO Carbon Series 675LT? Well it doesn’t really matter because the MSO Carbon Series 675LT Spider you see below was sold to the owner (direct from factory) for a whopping $820,000 (approx R11 million). That is more than double the regular car and if I was going to spend the full $820,000 on cars I would rather get TWO 675LT’s… This is just mind-warping stuff.Read entire story

If The McLaren 720S Looks Like This One Can Assume It Is A Winner

We now know that the successor to the 650S will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year and that it will be named the 720S. What is not known for sure is which power plant it will feature as there are rumors swirling that it could use an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Since we have no pictures or leaks of the car yet, no one really knows what it looks like but a member from McLaren Life forum has come up with these pretty realistic renderings based around the spy shots from last year. It looks like a nice mix between the outgoing 650S and the P1 and will really stand Read entire story

Listen to how Loud the Brakes are on a McLaren 650S!

Grab attention with looks and some serious brake squeal! The McLaren 650S is at the forefront of the super car game. It has the latest technology, advanced lightweight materials, and innovative engineering that make it one of the best exotics in the world. There’s only one problem – the brakes are really freaking loud! We’re not talking a little high-pitched noise here and there; the McLaren 650S has brakes that squeal loud enough pierce eardrums. The culprit is the carbon ceramic construction of the brakes. While these offer superb stopping power and reduce weight at the wheel hub for better overall performance, they do have a very annoying side effect. Take a look at just how aggravating they can be with the.leviathan’s …Read entire story
