2018 Jaguar E-Pace Spied, Including Interior and Cargo Space

2018 Jaguar E-Pace Spied, Including Interior and Cargo Space

-What It Is: Jaguar nearly went 100 years without building a single SUV or crossover, but now that the gates have opened by the F-Pace, they might as well be taken off the hinges. Following the enthusiastic reception given to that SUV, Jaguar is hoping to keep up the, uh, pace by fully committing to the trend. In the near future, Jaguar will triple its utility-vehicle presence by launching the all-electric I-Pace crossover, as well as the E-Pace pictured here: essentially a baby F-Pace, much in the same way the XE sedan is a smaller sibling to the XF. Thanks to a starting price of $42,990, the Stelvio is set for a clean shot, too, as the Italian stallion costs just $1140 more than the least expensive Q5 and a whopping $5560 less than the bottom-of-the-barrel Macan.-In its least expensive form, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes standard with 18-inch wheels, leather seating surfaces, a proximity key with remote start, a power-opening rear liftgate, and a 7.0-inch infotainment screen. AMG to Unveil Four-Door GT Concept

AMG to Unveil Four-Door GT Concept

-Mercedes-AMG released this sketch of a show car the company will display at the Geneva auto show next week. Although we don’t yet know anything about the car, even from this illustration its most notable feature is clear: It has four doors.-AMG, it would appear, has a case of Porsche Panamera envy. AMG-enhanced Mercedes sedans are nothing new—in fact, they are the basis from which AMG sprung; but AMG’s only exclusive model, the GT and its variants, is offered only as a coupe or convertible. With the GT concept, the Mercedes in-house go-faster division clearly is exploring a sleek sedan derivative. Or make that a four-door hatchback, as it appears the concept has a …Read entire story

Infiniti and Renault Sport Formula 1 Team Create Q60 Project Black S

Infiniti and Renault Sport Formula 1 Team Create Q60 Project Black S

-Infiniti has been all about showing us its true colors lately. Following the debut—and eventual quiet demise—of the Q50 Eau Rouge concept (that’s literally French for “red water” but named after the famous corner on the Spa-Francorchamps racing circuit, itself named for a nearby stream), the automaker put the somewhat less exciting Q50 Red Sport 400 on sale. Now, for the 2017 Geneva auto show, Infiniti has cooked up the Project Black S concept using the Q50’s coupe sibling, the Q60.-As the more serious-sounding name suggests, the Black S is an entirely cooler take on the Q60 than the Red Sport 400 is on the Q50. Infiniti is leveraging its “technical partnership” with the Renault Sport Formula 1 team for…Read entire story

Slinging Mud with Rockproof, Nokian’s New Extreme Off-Road Tire

Slinging Mud with Rockproof, Nokian’s New Extreme Off-Road Tire

-Given the terrain-conquering mission of mud-terrain (MT) tires, it’s no surprise that the category is populated with some chest-thumpingly bold names. The Dick Cepek Crusher, for example, has a repeating skull-and-crossbones pattern molded into its sidewalls along with bone-shaped tread blocks. Nokian, of course no stranger to spirited names such as the one it’s best known for—its world-beating winter tire, the Hakkapeliitta, named after a Finnish battle cry—is entering the mud-terrain business with a new entry, called Rockproof.-That tough label also explains its reason for being, as Nokian says the expansion into the extreme off-road category came about in response to feedback from commercial users of the company’s mining tires…Read entire story

Tangled Up in Blue: Aston Martin Plays One Note with DB11 Q Concept

-Aston Martin made waves at the 2016 Geneva auto show, where the British brand unveiled the then all-new DB11. With a sturdy and lightweight aluminum structure and powered by a twin-turbocharged V-12, the DB11 successfully combined modern technology with classic styling that evolved the brand’s long-stagnant design language. One year later, Aston Martin is again unveiling a DB11 at the Geneva auto show, and it’s, well, it’s blue. All the way blue.-Dubbed the DB11 Q by Aston Martin, the one-of-a-kind sports coupe is designed to showcase the work of Aston Martin’s…Read entire story

Order Up! Volvo V90 Wagon Available to Spec; R-Design Is Least Expensive

-It’s no secret that we are fans of Volvo’s sleek V90 wagon; we especially dig it in its purist form—more so than the Cross Country version—and it looks particularly hot in R-Design trim. Well, now Volvo has released pricing for the wagon, and guess what? The V90 R-Design is the least expensive version.-The V90 R-Design starts at $50,945, and the V90 Inscription is $52,945. Those prices are for vehicles equipped with the T5 powertrain, which consists of Volvo’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, driving the front wheels.–The Cross Country, which doesn’t offer multiple trim levels, starts at $56,295—but that’s with the T6 powertrain…Read entire story

The Porsche Cayenne S and S Diesel Just Went Platinum Overseas

The Porsche Cayenne S and S Diesel Just Went Platinum Overseas

-The Porsche Cayenne cannot claim 1,000,000 albums sold, or even 1,000,000 singles (at least that we know of). It can, however, claim a new trim option for two of its models, the Cayenne S and the Cayenne S diesel. The Platinum Edition designation, already available on the base diesel and the S E-Hybrid,  is expanding to offer even more choices for a lineup that’s already packed with a wide variety of flavors.–According to Porsche, the Platinum Editions are intended to maximize sporty functionality, which is kind of already the whole purpose of the Cayenne, but we digress. They come standard with 21-inch …Read entire story

New $1.2 Billion Settlement Would Let Volkswagen Repair Some V-6 Diesels

-For owners and lessees of 3.0-liter V-6 TDI-equipped Volkswagen vehicles affected by a huge diesel emissions scandal, the wait for compensation appears to be nearing an end. In a settlement filed in California federal court, Volkswagen has agreed to a $1.2 billion payout to those who bought or leased about 78,000 affected cars and crossovers.-A similar, $14.7 billion settlement involving 475,000 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI-equipped cars was filed in June. Since October, the German automaker has been giving out cash payments in addition to offering to buy back, terminate leases, or fix the cars. Payments are based on the car’s age. Everything You Need to Know about the VW Diesel-Emissions Scandal

Everything You Need to Know about the VW Diesel-Emissions Scandal

-General Motors and Toyota had their massive scandals. Now it’s Volkswagen’s turn. The company, which owns 70 percent of the U.S. passenger-car diesel market, is in major trouble for cheating on diesel-emissions tests. After years of promoting “Clean Diesel” as an alternative to hybrid and electric vehicles—the company even marched on Washington with a squadron of Audi TDI models—Volkswagen is stewing in its own toxic vapors. Here’s our handy guide to what’s happening.-What happened?-Volkswagen installed emissions software on more than a half-million diesel cars in the U.S.—and roughly 10.5 million more worldwide—that allows them to sense the unique parameters of an emissions drive cycle set by the Environmental Protection Agency. According to …Read entire story
