VIDEO: ASEAN NCAP latest crash tests – eight cars tested, five-star safety ratings for five cars

Over a month after it first published its latest crash test results, ASEAN NCAP has released the videos of the eight vehicles it tested, with five of them scoring five-star safety ratings. These vehicles include the new Honda Civic, which scored 14.74 points out of a maximum of 16 for adult occupant protection (AOP), while its child occupant protection (COP) compliance percentage of 86% was enough for it to gain a four-star COP rating. Malaysian models get six airbags, stability control and a passenger seat belt reminder across the range, so all of them are eligible for the top rating. Also gaining five stars…Read entire story

Why Nissan's Invisible Roof Should Become a Thing

Why Nissan's Invisible Roof Should Become a Thing

The Nissan Vmotion concept gained a significant upgrade for the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, where it showcased a more angular and futuristic take on the company’s current design language and previewed the interior styling we should see in production cars in a few years. The Vmotion 2.0 looks fantastic inside and out and features new “Intelligent Mobility” tech that Nissan has yet to talk about in detail for now. But to me, the concept’s most interesting feature is the “floating” roof.Built around lines flowing seamlessly from the steeply-raked A-pillars to the trunk lid, the roof design is like a massive piece of glass mounted on a thin structure. The floating C-pillars are carried over from …Read entire story

-Infiniti is inching closer to a production version of the next-generation QX50, the current version of which has soldiered on with relatively minor changes since 2008 when it was introduced as the EX35. At the 2017 Detroit auto show in January, Infiniti’s QX50 concept will preview what the new mid-size crossover will look like and what it might be capable of. It won’t be our first sneak peek at the new QX50, either—Nissan’s luxury brand showed a similar concept at the Paris auto show in September, following the QX Sport Inspiration’s initial unveiling in Beijing earlier this year.-Besides highlighting Infiniti’s Powerful Elegance…Read entire story

Brave Nissan GT-R Owner Drives To Everest Base Camp

Brave Nissan GT-R Owner Drives To Everest Base Camp

An ambitious and brave Nissan GT-R owner, Kah Chuan Hoong from Singapore, decided he wanted to be the first to drive a supercar to the base camp of Mount Everest and he documented his progress on Facebook. The journey stared in Singapore where he trekked across to Nepal in his Nissan GT-R. Other than some modifications such as increased ride height and custom front bumper for better clearance, the GT-R looks pretty stock standard to us. As you might have guessed, the trip was successful (see pics below) and he will drive the car all the way back again. Safe to say this GT-R will not be sold with the “oneRead entire story

Blade runner: Nissan’s quirky electric sports car takes to the road

Blade runner: Nissan’s quirky electric sports car takes to the road

by Lem Bingley Nissan has been dreaming up quirky electric concept cars for some time. Is it finally about to turn one into a product? That’s the question begged by the latest Nissan BladeGlider, described as a “working prototype” and clearly drivable. At least two functioning examples have been built by Nissan with help from Formula 1 offshoot Williams Advanced Engineering. One is being used to zip VIPs around at the Rio Olympic Games. The new car has an unusual triangular theme, narrower at the front than at the rear, and with three seats in an arrowhead formation. There’s no roof though there are rollover hoops and bars…Read entire story

Feeling Nostalgic? This Low-Mileage Nissan 200SX is the Antidote

The phrase “they don’t make ‘em like they used to” gets thrown around an awful lot these days, and for better or worse, “they”—whoever that may be—truly don’t. Modern gadgets are far more advanced, metal toys have given way to cheeper plastic play-things, and most new products have an air of temporary usefulness to them. Feeling nostalgic for the “good ‘ol days” yet? Here’s an automotive flashback that is proudly not of this millennium—a 1984 Nissan 200SX Turbo.Say it, TURBO! Break out the Ray-Bans, acid wash jeans, and crank up the Duran Duran. The claimed unmodified, five-speed, and 29,800-mile 200SX recently appeared on eBay, and it’s safe to say—they don’t make ‘em quite like this anymore.RELATED: Check Out…Read entire story
